04 Nov 2019 - 06 Nov 2019
08.00 - 05.00
Jakarta Convention Center, Indonesia
Event Summary
The United Nations defines sustainable development post 2015 as a long-term development of human society as a whole which aimed at achieving sustainable water use, energy use and agricultural practices, as well as promoting more inclusive economic development (United Nations, 2014). Increasing the number of the world's population from year to year is a challenge for all countries in sustainable feeding the world. Within 35 years, the world population is expected to increase to more than 9 million people with food demand is expected to increase by at least 50 per cent, water by at least 55 per cent and 40 per cent more energy to support future food demands (FAO (2014 ); WWAP (2014) and UNDESA (2013). To meet the global food security in 2050, the countries in the world need to think about methods of increasing food production through the efficient use of inputs as well as environmentally sustainable. Data show that the agricultural and economic development have affected a loss of biodiversity and forests, soil, deterioration, water and air quality, closed river basins, deforestation and desertification (Grafton et al. (2013); Laurance et al. (2014); Matson et al. (1997)). That requires proper policies and managements to regulate how critical inputs such as land, water, food, and energy are used and their effects on the environment such as climate changes, spatial and seasonal changes in temperature and rainfall and the potential impacts of those environmental factors on the food production. Therefore, we invite academics, researchers, practitioners and policy makers to participate in the International Conference on Science and Technology with the theme of Promoting Sustainable Agriculture, Food Security, Energy, and Environment Through Science and Technology for Development. Through this conference is expected, we share the latest research results and we discuss how to ensure the future of global food security through support of sustainable energy development without giving negative impacts on energy and the environment.
